Rueben Paterson: At The Edge of a Mirror | Main Gallery
3 May 2014 – 27 July 2014
Renowned New Zealand contemporary artist Reuben Paterson has developed a wide following in recent years for his large-scale creations in glitter and diamond dust.
In this significant solo show, Reuben offers viewers the HCAG main gallery space as an interior of a kaleidoscope, where his vibrant, sparkling paintings act as the mirrored surfaces implying refraction, tessellation and symmetry. The movement of people echoes the turns of the kaleidoscope. This exhibition gathers together a large collection of Reuben’s work from Milford Galleries and Gow Langsford Gallery.
Reuben has work held in many major New Zealand and international collections, and continues to exhibit widely both here and abroad, though rarely in the smaller centres. He has held residencies in the USA, Europe and New Zealand, and his work has featured in countless publications over the last 15 years.
