The Farmer and the Dog - Crossing the Field of Painting: Evan Woodruffe | Saturday 29 April, 11am
Join Evan Woodruffe as he discusses the ambiguous environments in his exhibition No Straight Lines.
With multiple entry points and no central perspective, Evan’s paintings encourage the viewer to follow the trail of the brush into territories rich with coloured patterns and textures. Using the analogy of a farmer and the dog, Woodruffe’s talk will traverse the diverse pathways within his works and uncover a new approach to these landscapes.
Evan Woodruffe is an artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, and exhibits throughout the Asia-Pacific region, with work in significant collections in Singapore, Australia, China, the USA, and New Zealand. Writer Lucinda Bennett referred to his works as Wet Maps, “living, breathing ecosystems, and visualisations of a new kind of urbanism”.
Evan has MFA (1st Class) from Elam, and is a long-standing supporter of the visual arts, not only as an artist, but as a collector, sponsor, teacher, and advocator. He runs Akepiro Street Studios, home to over a dozen artists since 2008, is Global Brand Ambassador for both Schmincke Artist Colours and da Vinci Artist Brushes, and is a regular contributor to community art events.
