Landscapes of Hope: Lisa Chandler

Lisa Chandler Forgotten Detail 2021 Diptych

Forgotten (Detail) 2021, Diptych

Available Monday 13 September – Friday 2 December.

Lisa Chandler is a contemporary history painter - she looks closely at our moment in time and explores such issues as gentrification, migration, social and economic injustice, climate change and the current pandemic. Chandler employs her love of painting to portray how these events affect individuals and communities. Her paintings tell stories of loss, isolation, grief and exhaustion, but they also offer hope - showing how people unite together and support each other in difficult times. Alongside her large-scale paintings, she also creates works on paper, often including collage and printmaking techniques.

In this programme the students will view and discuss the exhibition, explore Lisa’s techniques and create a ‘Landscape of Hope’ through collage and other media.
