te MOKO on our face / in your face
Available from Monday 31 June and throughout Term 3
We are thrilled to be welcoming Iwitoi Kahungunu Artist Collective back to the gallery this year for their new exhibition, te MOKO on our face / in your face. Curated by Dr Sandy Adsett, te MOKO showcases 'the face of Māori art today'.
"A specifically designed installation of contemporary artwork by 40 Iwitoi Kahungunu artists of Heretaunga engaging in reprising cultural values beyond the Marae.
Of treasuring the images that identify us;
Of claiming a space to stand as ourselves;
Of being Māori-centric in identifying what makes for creative artistic excellence."
This exhibition and associated programme is still in development, but is available to book from Monday 31 June and available throughout Term 3. Please get in touch for more information.
