Ongoing - available all year
In this programme, students will look at how artists capture Te Matau-a-Māui Hawke’s Bay through landscape art. We will explore different paintings of local places and examine the techniques that artists use to create perspective – foreground, background and overlapping. We also will focus on our own associations with local places and our hometowns.
We will discuss places that are important to tamariki and why, but also think about other members in our community and places important to them. After this kōrero, we will take inspiration from local artist Abbey Merson and create an artwork depicting a landscape in Hawke’s Bay. We will use collage techniques and tissue paper to create our very own masterpieces.
