Available year-round and refreshed every school holiday, the interactive wall at the Gallery is a continually evolving space for tamariki to engage in free, hands-on activities. It’s the perfect place to spend 20 minutes or more creating exhibition-inspired masterpieces, which can then be displayed on the wall.
This time, the interactive wall is inspired by the Te Matau-a-Māui Contemporary Art: Gwen Malden Trust Commissions exhibition, which celebrates four Hawke’s Bay artists. Tamariki can create their own 3D kāhu bird (native hawk) using templates, patterned paper, and colouring felts. Each kāhu will join a collective display, creating a beautiful mural of kāhu flying over the Gallery wall.
