Chris Charteris and Jeff Smith: Tungaru - The Kiribati Project | Main Gallery

13 June 2015 - 30 August 2015

Tungaru: The Kiribati Project is a collaboration between two artists - Chris Charteris and Jeff Smith. Jeff, Chris and their families travelled to Kiribati in July 2012 to spend time with Chris’ extended family and to work on this collaborative project, which celebrates the culture of Kiribati. In Tungaru: The Kiribati Project, Chris (sculptor, carver and jewellery maker) uses materials and techniques inspired by the traditions of Kiribati to make contemporary works. Jeff, (filmmaker and 3D animator) documented their time in Kiribati and has created digital works exploring new technologies.
