Wednesday 1 May, 10am - 4.30pm | ‘Uhila’s performance will take place over six-and-a-half hours across the entrance to Te Whare Toi o Heretaunga Hastings Art Gallery in Civic Square, and the Gallery’s foyer and Holt Gallery. The public is invited to come and go during this time, with the performance culminating at 4.30pm. Free, no booking required.
16 March – 23 June 2024 | Can you see us now? is a new sculptural installation by Jasmine Togo-Brisby, a South Sea Islander artist of Ni-Vanuatu ancestry. It asks questions of visibility and cultural memory, exploring the global legacies of the South Pacific slave trade and its passages through Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, the Pacific Ocean. The work explores empathy and resistance across time, space, and genealogies – a vessel for the connected journeys of many.
Our Free Kids Drop-In Art Days run Tuesday and Thursday of the school holidays, between 10am – 3pm. Come along to the gallery and get creative with fun, art activities related to our current exhibitions! Free, no booking required.
