21 January 2009 - 5 April 2009
Curated by Jan Vaessen and Hastings City Art Gallery Director Maree Mills, with Dr Lisa Perrott selecting moving image work, this exhibition promises to be controversial at a time of Art Deco celebration in the Bay.
It will present an alternative look at the Deco era by exploring new ways of thinking communicated in the arts.
More than 45 artists will display their work at this show and exhibitors include early artists such as Adele Younghusband and Edward Bulmore as well as Mary McIntyre, Sylvia Siddell, Barry Cleavin, Don Driver and Brent Wong. Some of the high profile artists include Seraphine Pick, Michael Parakowhai, Liz Maw and Richard Killeen.
This is a significant show for Hastings and New Zealand, with a large number of excellent artworks being shown for the first time in a collection such as this, it is an exhibition not to be missed.
Mind Games opens to the public on 6th February and runs through to 5th April 09.
This exhibition is followed by the nationally acclaimed Hawke’s Bay Invitational running from 17 April through to 31 May 09.
