OUR AIM

The aim of the Hastings City Art Gallery is to bring together art that “excites, challenges and extends cultural experiences, and which connects with people, place and identity”.

The Philosophy for the operations of the Hastings City Art Gallery is based on the following Maori principles:

Manakitanga / Hospitality
Kaitiakitanga / Stewardship
Ahuatanga / Unique Character

INTERESTED IN EXHIBITING?

Proposals are welcomed from individuals and collaborative groups to be considered for inclusion in the Hastings City Art Gallery’s exciting program. For an Artist Proposal Pack please contact us.

If the proposal is selected for consideration by the Hastings City Art Gallery’s Director, it will then go before an external selectors panel made up of representatives from the Hastings City Art Gallery’s advisory group. This will be done in order to consider appropriateness for inclusion in the overall balance of the annual exhibition programme.

Projects of particular interest include those that encourage collaboration between several disciplines in art and design and / or have cross cultural considerations, and are cognisant of concurrent fields of contemporary art practice and / or theory. Potential educational opportunities are also of high interest.

The gallery is currently not requesting exhibition proposals as the programme is full through 2014.
